Call to Prayer before Elections

October 28th, 2008 by shieldofabraham and

We at the Jerusalem Connection are keenly aware of the critical nature of the coming election. It is the most important election this country has ever faced. Recognizing this we ask that you prayerfully consider the insights and admonitions of Dutch Sheets that follow. And may God have mercy on his people and this nation.

Dear Praying Friend,

In 2000, I wrote the 2nd most important letter of my life-a call to prayer for the elections of that year. I’m now writing what may be my most important letter. I knew the importance of those elections in 2000 was beyond any in my life up to that point and that the spiritual warfare surrounding them would be unlike anything any of us had ever seen. That letter was read by millions of people and I believe millions of them responded by praying. I also believe the prayers turned the tide.

You may question whether President Bush was the right choice; obviously, he has made some blunders in his tenure as president. But two of his decisions alone left no doubt he was God’s choice: Roberts and Alito. These two Supreme Court Justices have proven critical in the process of breaking the hold of humanism, death and anti-God agendas that have ruled the Court for 50 years. I assure you that more devastation-the shedding of innocent blood, immorality, decay of the family and an erosion of our godly heritage-has flowed into our nation through that institution than any other door in America. Many times more. The poison allowed into America through their decisions is beyond any of our abilities to articulate.

The reality in America is that you don’t need to control Congress or the White House to rule the nation. You only need 5 people - 5 out of 9 on the Supreme Court. And for decades those who disagree with just about everything you and I stand for have been in control!

In Bush’s two terms, the process of turning this around began with the appointments of Roberts and Alito. Now, we win some cases 5-4 and lose some 4-5. (We barely outlawed partial birth abortion. The vote of one judge saved thousands of babies from this horror.) We need one more conservative Justice for a consistent majority, then more to build a strong majority.

In Obama’s own words, “the next president will appoint at least one, perhaps two or more Supreme Court Justices.” He’s right. Almost certainly two or more older, liberal Justices are waiting until after the elections to retire, in hopes of Obama winning and appointing more liberals to replace them. And he certainly would. He voted against the confirmation of Roberts and Alito. So did Biden. And Biden led the fight against Justice Thomas several years back, another of the 4 solid conservatives. Make no mistake about it, the two of them do have a litmus test for Supreme Court Justices, and a major part of that test is Roe vs. Wade. McCain and Palin, on the other hand, both have very strong pro-life positions. This alone makes the choice for President simple. To vote for the 2nd and 3rd most liberal senators (Obama and Biden), both of whom are firmly and blatantly pro-abortion, would be unconscionable. Obama has actually said that if he wins, he would like his first action as president to be the signing of the Freedom of Choice Act, which would eliminate every other law against any aspect of abortion (partial birth abortion, parental notification, etc., etc.). And with a democratic majority in the House and Senate, pretty much any legislation he and Biden want to pass will be a slam-dunk. There are many other unrighteous positions they hold but this position alone makes the choice easy. If they win this election, it will set America back decades in the cause of life and the restoration we seek.

Just as many of you do, I too, want to see a first black President, but not Senator Obama. To allow that noble and godly desire, the economy or one’s position on the war to trump this issue of life and death for the innocent unborn is simply wrong. The scriptures teach that if we choose first to exalt righteousness and turn from evil, God promises to heal our land (see Proverbs 14:34; 2 Chronicles 7: 14). It is righteousness that exalts a nation, not wealth, prosperity or armies. If we will finish the process of removing the curses of death and anti-God laws off of America by electing a president that will continue to shift the Court, God will grace us with breakthrough in other areas such as the economy, the war against terrorism, etc. My faith is not in a person, and certainly not a political party, for the healing of America , but I know God’s word and His ways well enough to know that our decisions do move Him to action or inaction.
Now to the heart of my reason for writing this letter (I realize I am “preaching to the choir”-most of you who know or listen to me are conservative enough to vote for McCain and Palin.) I have not written any appeals for prayer concerning this election because:

1) others have, and

2) I believe our movement has matured to the point that the prayer base of the Church is already praying.

But I now feel the need to raise my voice. I am appealing to you to pray for these elections the next two weeks like you’ve never prayed for any in the past. Faithfully. Passionately. Boldly. Ask God for His mercy and grace. We deserve His judgment for removing His influence and authority from our government, schools, homes and businesses; for the killing of 50 million babies; for leading the world in the consumption and exporting of pornography; for passing laws to reject His; etc. But mercy triumphs over judgment and in His wrath He remembers mercy. In 2000 we actually lost the popular vote and won the election-talk about grace! Please pray for this grace to be released again. But I am also asking you for something more than normal prayer. For those of you who understand spiritual warfare, I am asking you to also include this aspect of prayer. There is no doubt that we have entered a Daniel 10 moment in time: “Then he said to me, ‘Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, I have come in response to your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia’” (Daniel 10: 12-13 NAS). The spiritual warfare in this election is incredibly fierce, and just as it was in Daniel’s day, is all about the restoration of a nation. And also like Daniel, we must keep praying until we win the battle in the heavens.

In August of this year I predicted that September would mark a shift in momentum for these elections. This happened with the appointment of Sarah Palin as the Vice Presidential nominee (who is a true Esther in our generation), but when the economy began its meltdown and the media ramped up their unprecedented attacks on Palin, that momentum wasn’t sustained. But we can see it turn again if we approach this battle as the spiritual warfare it truly is and bind the evil forces involved (see Matthew 16:18-19). The reality is that this election can be the breakthrough we need to fully shift the Court (and ultimately our nation) or it will be an immeasurable setback that could take many years to reverse-if ever.

Please understand what I am saying: if we engage in this battle and do what I am asking-in mass-we will win; if we do not, we will lose. I, for one, don’t intend to allow the latter. I am in Washington , D.C. now with Lou Engle and a team of prayer leaders from around the nation to war for this election. Join us! Lose some sleep, miss some meals-pray! Pray like never before for these elections. And as you do, involve yourself not only in petitioning prayer but also in spiritual warfare. Use your God- given authority over the plans and strategies of satan’s kingdom. Bind all witchcraft that is working to control the outcome, including occultic powers that are suppressing truth. Release Christ’s Kingdom rule in every way the Holy Spirit leads you.

Don’t be deceived and don’t lose hope (if you have to, turn off the TV.) It is not too late to turn these elections. God is plenty powerful enough to do so. The real question is will we rise to the level of prayer and spiritual warfare necessary to release that power. And remember, we don’t need a majority of Christians who are willing and able to do this-only a praying remnant. We can do it!

Here are some practical suggestions to consider:

1) Fast (a meal a day; a day a week; a Daniel fast; 3 days; 10 days; TV; etc.) and spend the time praying.

2) Agree in prayer with someone everyday for God’s will to be done.

3) Form/participate in prayer groups regularly. Churches could pray every day.

4) Take time in every gathering to pray. (Take 15 minutes in every service to pray for the elections. Turn an entire service to harp and bowl style intercession-worship and prayer combined.)

5) Join 2 or more on a conference call and pray for 15, 20, or 30 minutes.

6) Pray on the way to work (and on the way home).

7) Pray before you go to sleep.

8) Pray before church services.

9) Ask God to give you His strategy-He will!

In His grip,
Dutch Sheets

McCain and Obama: Compare records, not rhetoric
by Joel Pollak, The Jerusalem Post

Professor Alan Dershowitz is a great teacher and role model. No one has defended Israel’s cause with greater courage. But I must respectfully challenge his support for Senator Barack Obama on the issue of Israel. In a recent op-ed in the The Jerusalem Post, Dershowitz wrote: “The election of Barack Obama - a liberal supporter of Israel - will enhance Israel’s position among wavering liberals.”

That is wishful thinking. Dershowitz presumes Obama will support Israel as president. If Obama does not, however, then the political left and the “wavering liberals” will surely follow his lead. And what then? Dershowitz notes that both Obama and Senator John McCain have made strong rhetorical commitments to Israel. However, we must judge the candidates on their actions, not their words.

John McCain has been a steadfast friend of Israel for many years. He has visited Israel many times and has constantly supported pro-Israel votes in Congress. He has always backed Israel’s right to defend itself. A panel of experts assembled by Ha’aretz concluded that McCain would be the best US president for Israel, regardless of who Israel would choose as its next leader.

Barack Obama has impressed pro-Israel voters in recent speeches, but his record is worrying. When running for US Senate, he attacked Israel’s security barrier - not just its route, but its existence. He called it a “wall,” and told the Chicago Jewish News that it was “yet another example of the neglect of this Administration in brokering peace,” though its effect in saving lives was already clear by then.  Continue Reading>>

One that calls for a Response
Each week we take a meaningful quote, tie it to scripture, and leave you with a take-home.

Iran’s Mehdi Kalhor, Vice President for Media Affairs, said: “The U.S. must do two things before summit talks can take place. First, American military forces must leave the Middle East — including such countries as Iraq, Qatar, Turkey and anywhere else American soldiers are deployed in the region. Second, the U.S. must cease its support of Israel. Until Washington does both, talks are “off the agenda.”…”If they [the U.S.] take our advice, grounds for such talks would be well prepared.”

God says:I will be an enemy to your enemy and oppose those who oppose you.”…”Do not be afraid of this vast army. For the battle is not yours but God’s … you will not have to fight this battle … O Judah and Jerusalem do not be afraid, do not be discouraged … the LORD will be with you.”   (Exodus 23:22; II Chronicles 20:15-17).

The Jerusalem Connection says: Senator Barack Obama has declared that, if elected, he would be willing to sit down and talk to Iran “without preconditions.” What a contrast between Obama and Iran!  Not only is Obama politically naive but he is a walking security time-bomb looking for a place to explode. The fact that Obama’s inexperience could provoke an international incident with Iran was probably what Senator Joe Biden was referring to as a possible scenario when he said, “We’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him [Obama]. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.” … “I promise you, you all are gonna be sitting here a year from now going, ‘Oh my God, why are they there in the polls? . . . Why is this thing so tough? . . . I’m asking you now, be prepared to stick with us. Remember the faith you had at this point, because you’re going to have to reinforce us. …”There are gonna be a lot of you who want to go, ‘Whoa, wait a minute, yo, whoa, whoa, I don’t know about that decision.’ ” During the increasingly difficult days ahead we need to remember Jesus’ words, “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:28).

Barack Obama, Jewish-Americans and Israel
By David Bedein, The Philadelpia Bulletin

From a personal and professional perspective, this is the sixth American Presidential campaign that I have covered from Israel, concentrating on the “Israel aspect” of the story.

This time I not only have covered the campaign from Israel - This time, I was assigned by The [Philadelphia] Bulletin to fly over and cover the Obama campaign at the time of the Pennsylvania primary in April.

My observation of the “Jewish American view of Sen. Obama” was that there was an atmosphere of unreality surrounding Jewish advocacy and Jewish opposition to Sen. Barack Obama.

Both pro-Obama and anti- Obama forces in the Jewish world related to the senator with an attitude of superficiality, more attention paid to the company that he keeps than to the policies that he stands for.

Yet here is the rub: None one has really heard where Sen. Obama stands on Middle East issues.

When I interviewed three of Sen. Obama’s staffers who specialize in Middle East issues, I presented them with 18 questions. Besides the issue of Palestinian incitement, which his staffers said that he abhors, they could not provide any answers whatsover to basic questions put forward by The Bulletin last April.  Continue Reading>>

One that calls for a Response
Each week we take a meaningful quote, tie it to scripture, and leave you with a take-home.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson said: “Prepare for a new America. … fundamental changes in US foreign policy. … The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where decades of putting Israel’s interests first would end. … Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades remain strong, they’ll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House. Obama is about change. And the change that Obama promises is not limited to what we do in America itself. It is a change of the way America looks at the world and its place in it.” … “Bush was so afraid of a snafu and of upsetting Israel that he gave the whole thing a miss. … Barack will change that, because, as long as the Palestinians haven’t seen justice, the Middle East will remain a source of danger to us all.” … “Barack is determined to repair our relations with the world of Islam and Muslims.” … “Thanks to his background and ecumenical approach, he knows how Muslims feel …”

God says:
“I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.” … “It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.” (Exodus 23:22; Hebrews 6:4-6).

The Jerusalem Connection says:
Once again the latent anti-Semitism of Jesse Jackson emerges. While Jackson is “not a prophet nor the son of a prophet” what he said is probably prophetic. What rational person would doubt that in an Obama administration our support of Israel would diminish significantly. And with that diminishing support comes the curse of the God of Israel. (Genesis 12:3). The only hope for the United States and Israel in this season of spiritual down-spiraling, is for God to graciously intervene on behalf of those who know and love Him. O LORD, HAVE MERCY!

Who will win the election?

October 13th, 2008 by shieldofabraham and

Who will win the election?…and why it matters.

Dear Portia,

Do you believe the nation of Israel has a right to defend itself against Islamic terrorists, the same terrorists that attacked innocent Americans on 9-11?

Do you believe it is in America’s strategic interest to help the Israeli government defend itself against rogue nations like Iran?

Do you believe supporting the modern state of Israel is a partial fulfillment of God’s covenant promise to provide a national homeland for the Jewish people?

If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, then please, take a moment right now and fill out the 2008 ELECTION YEAR SURVEY.  Your input is more critical today than ever before.

I will tell more about that in a minute.  But first, I want to thank you for your ongoing financial help to THE JERUSALEM CONNECTION.  As I mentioned in my letter to you last month, raising the necessary funds during this particularly difficult economic time is indeed a huge challenge.

I shared with you last month how the Summer Nearly Wiped Us Out!  Thankfully many responded.  But the rocky economy shows no signs of letting up — faltering investment banks on Wall Street, billions needed for a financial bailout, little hope any time soon for energy independence, all have indeed challenged everyone.

Here at THE JERUSALEM CONNECTION we’re still currently experiencing…a YTD shortfall of more than $25,000.  And for a small organization like ours, that hurts.

So, here is my ask: if you are able to help us again this month, we’d love to hear from you.  But, please do so only after you have taken care of your family’s needs and tithes to your local church.

The National Election

The air here in Washington is thick with election year buzz.  Each presidential consultant is jockeying for airtime and just hoping the other guy makes a mistake.  And, as you know, one of the unique aspects of our ministry is this: We are not beholden to any political party nor any particular government agency, U.S or Israeli. We want to be able to speak truth to power regardless.

Estimates show that Evangelicals make up about 25% or approximately 75 million Americans.   At least half are pro-Israel or Christian Zionists.  These are Christians who believe modern Israel is a partial fulfillment of God’s covenant promise to provide a national homeland for the Jewish people.

Many of us do not believe the Bush Administration’s “Road Map to Peace” with its “Two-State Solution” and a “divided Jerusalem” constitutes proper support of Israel.  To address this critical issue, THE JERUSALEM CONNECTION is calling upon you to help us make the case for THE JERUSALEM CONNECTION PEACE PLAN — which spells out specific proposals regarding our future relationship with our Middle Eastern friend and closest democratic ally, Israel.

THE JERUSALEM CONNECTION PEACE PLAN advocates a sound public policy initiative that includes;

1. Recognition that the Bush Administration’s “Road Map to Peace” has failed.
2. Support a “surge,” similar to the U.S. surge in Iraq, by the Israelis against Palestinian Jihadists including Hezbollah.
3. Recognition that negotiations simply do not work with radical-Islamic Jihadists, nor does deterrence.
4. Support for Knesset Member Benny Elon’s peace plan, “The Israeli Initiative,” which gives Jordanian citizenship to “West Bank” Palestinians.
5. Defund the United Nation Relief and Works Agency, (UNRWA) which perpetuates the Palestinian refugee problem.

In my opinion, the candidates who best articulate our PEACE PLAN will win the election.  We can hope and pray that both candidates will see the wisdom of THE JERUSALEM CONNECTION’S PEACE PLAN and adopt it.  But we know only one man will be elected President.

And on January 20, 2009, I will send the results of the enclosed 2008 ELECTION YEAR SURVEY to our new President at the White House, to the new 111th Congress and to select members of the media.  They need to know what the silent majority of us believe is the best course — not only for Israel — but for the future security of America too.

And, if you are in a position to help us again with a gift, we’d be greatly blessed.

The convenient war against the Jews
By Caroline Glick, The Jerusalem Post

In the end, the global jihad, and the West’s fickle response to radical Islam’s assault on its civilization, is about hating Jews. This truth, never wholly hidden from view, was exposed in all its ugliness in recent months with startling disclosures by former Italian president and Senator-for-life Francesco Cossiga.

In a letter to Italy’s Corriere della Serra in August, Cossiga acknowledged that during the early 1970s, then Italian prime minister Aldo Moro signed an agreement with Yassir Arafat’s PLO and affiliated organizations that enabled the Palestinians to field terrorists, operate bases and store weapons in Italy in exchange for immunity from attack for Italy and Italian interests worldwide. Cossiga also acknowledged that even when the Palestinians murdered Italians, the government still protected them. Indeed, he admitted for the first time that the largest terror attack ever to take place on Italian soil - the bombing of the Bologna train station in July 1980 which killed 85 people - was the work of PLO-affiliated terrorists from George Habash’s Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

At the time of the bombing, Cossiga was Italy’s prime minister. Right after it occurred, he blamed the atrocity on neo-fascists. In his words at the time, “Unlike leftist terrorism, which strikes at the heart of the state through its representatives, black terrorism prefers the massacre because it promotes panic and impulsive reactions.”

In August, he claimed that it was the work of the PFLP and asserted that the bomb exploded inadvertently. That is, the Palestinians hadn’t meant to kill non-Jews - so Italian authorities protected them.  Continue Reading>>

One that calls for a Response
Each week we take a meaningful quote, tie it to scripture, and leave you with a take-home.

Bill Wilson said: The United States is leading the world into a “new world order” where financial systems will be taken over by governments and coordinated by a central committee of the ruling elite. Using the cover of media catch phrases like “the worst financial crisis since the market crash of 1929,” the Federal government and Congress have frightened Americans into relinquishing wide sweeping powers of private home ownership and financial independence to a powerful central figure in the government–the Treasury Secretary. The Treasury Secretary is now emboldened to create a one-world order economy without the approval or even the knowledge of the people whose tax money he will use. … Who would have thought that America would lead us there?  (Check out Bill Wilson at http://www.dailyjot.com/)

God says: And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that he had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”
(Revelation 13:16-17)

The Jerusalem Connection says:
I believe we are experiencing the beginnings of an enormous global “shaking.” The Prophet said, “In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth … I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come.” (Haggai 2:6). We have just finished the “Days of Awe” that climaxes on “The Day of Atonement” (Yom Kippur). These were days when we were to confess our sins and realign ourselves with God’s prioities and purposes. Best we continue in the spirit of seeking God’s grace and mercy for the days ahead because the situation is going to get worse before it gets better. As the Apostle John reminds us, “This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of the saints who obey God’s commandments and remain faithful to Jesus.” (Revelation 14:12).

Obama, McCain and Israel
By Yoram Ettinger

A worldview shapes presidential attitudes toward Israel either as a strategic asset or a liability and toward Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and the Golan Heights. A presidential worldview determines the scope of the US posture of deterrence in face of Middle East and global threats, which directly impacts Israel’s national security.

For example, President Nixon was not a friend of the US Jewish community and was not a leader of pro-Israeli legislation in the US Senate. In 1968, he received only about 15% of the Jewish vote. However, his worldview recognized Israel’s importance to US national security, as was demonstrated in 1970, when Israel rolled back a Syrian invasion of Jordan, preventing a pro-Soviet domino scenario into the Persian Gulf. It was Nixon’s worldview which led him to approve critical military shipments to Israel - during the 1973 War - in defiance of the Arab oil embargo and brutal pressure by the Saudi lobby in Washington, and in spite of the Democratic pattern of the Jewish voters.

On the other hand, President Clinton displayed an affinity toward Judaism, the Jewish People and the Jewish State. However, his worldview accepted Arafat as a national liberation leader, elevated him to the most frequent guest at the White House, underestimated the threat of Islamic terrorism, unintentionally facilitated its expansion from 1993 (first “Twin Tower” attack) to the 9/11 terrorist tsunami, adding fuel to the fire of Middle East and global turbulence.

How would the worldview of Obama, McCain and their advisors shape US policy toward Israel?  Continue Reading>>

One that calls for a Response
Each week we take a meaningful quote, tie it to scripture, and leave you with a take-home.

Gary Kah said: Make no mistake, the current [financial crisis] is very serious and will get worse. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan warned, “This is a once-in-a-century crisis.”

As people increasingly feel the pinch in their pocketbooks, they will look for someone to blame for their hard times. So far, the federal government is getting the most heat. The Federal Reserve, which is responsible for many of our economic policy decisions, is especially feeling the pressure. The last two Fed Chairmen have been Alan Greenspan and Ben Bernanke — both Jews. And some of the individuals overseeing our largest remaining banks are also Jewish. One can see the “handwriting on the wall.”

I fear that with 8 million Muslims now in America, outnumbering the 5.7 million Jews, and with anti-Semitism on the rise among the general public, the Jewish people could once again become the scapegoat. History has a way of repeating itself. What is happening in America today is very reminiscent of what happened in Germany preceding the rise of Hitler. I believe it may be just a matter of time before Jews are persecuted and forced to return to Israel. The persecution of true Christians could follow on the heels.

Remember that God is still in control and is aware of all your needs. Pursue Him, work hard, plan wisely — leave the rest in His hands. Expect Him to do great things, even under difficult circumstances.(Check out Gary Kah at http://www.garykah.org/ )

God says:The LORD has established His throne in heaven and His kingdom rules over all;”… “My God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Messiah Jesus;” … “The Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone He wishes;” … “There is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” (Psalm 103:19; Philippians 4:19; Daniel 4:17; Romans 13:1).

The Jerusalem Connection says: Listening to the debate last night between Governor Palin and Senator Biden I was reminded that elections are merely the means by which God establishes authorities and places in leadership “anyone He wishes.” Having said that, I am also keenly aware that this election, both in the U.S. and Israel, will likely create a political environment that will have Biblical implications. It was encouraging to hear both candidates give strong statements in support of Israel. However, that may be put to the test if Gary Kah’s scenario comes to pass. In any case we need to pray for God’s mercy on His people.

HR 6975 (Jihad Prevention Act)

Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., introduced a bill to the House of Representatives that seeks to prevent Islamic law from gaining a foothold in the U.S. legal system, as it has in other countries.

Tancredo introduced HR 6975, the Jihad Prevention Act, last week. If made into law, the bill would allow American authorities to prevent advocates of Islamic law, or Shariah, from entering the country, revoke the visa of any foreigners that champion it and revoke naturalization for citizens that seek to implement it in the U.S.

“When you have an immigration policy that allows for the importation of millions of radical Muslims,” Tancredo said in a statement, “you are also importing their radical ideology an ideology that is fundamentally hostile to the foundations of Western democracy such as gender equality, pluralism and individual liberty.

“The best way to safeguard America against the importation of the destructive effects of this poisonous ideology is to prevent its purveyors from coming here in the first place,” Tancredo said. (Reported by Drew Zahn © 2008 WorldNetDaily)

Please pray for Congressman Tancredo and this bill.  Congress will be going into recess but we will alert you in the future when it is time to mobilize support for HR 6975.

Liberal Jews: Your Abortions or Your Lives
By Caroline Glick, The Jerusalem Post

[Editors note: Unfortunately, what Caroline Glick decries in the following article was replicated by the Jewish Community Relations Council of greater Washington, DC when it disinvited a Christian Zionist voice at a rally opposing Ahmadinejad’s appearance at the UN.]

American Jews have good reason to be ashamed and angry today. As Iran moves into the final stages of its nuclear weapons development program - nuclear weapons which it will use to destroy the State of Israel, endanger Jews around the world and cow the United States of America - Democratic American Jewish leaders decided that putting Sen. Barack Obama in the White House is more important than protecting the lives of the Jewish people in Israel and around the world.

On Monday, the New York Sun published the speech that Republican vice presidential nominee and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would have delivered at that day’s rally outside UN headquarters in New York against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and against Iran’s plan to destroy Israel. She would have delivered it, if she hadn’t been disinvited.

The rally was co-sponsored by the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations, the National Coalition to Stop Iran Now, The Israel Project, United Jewish Communities, the UJA-Federation of New York and the Jewish Council for Public Affairs. Its purpose was to present a united American Jewish front against Iran’s genocidal leader and against its genocidal regime which is developing nuclear weapons with the stated intention of committing the second Holocaust in 80 years.  Continue Reading>>

One that calls for a Response
Each week we take a meaningful quote, tie it to scripture, and leave you with a take-home.

Govenor Sarah Palin said: Ahmadinejad may choose his words carefully, but underneath all of the rhetoric is an agenda that threatens all who seek a safer and freer world. He must be stopped. … The world must awake to the threat this man poses to all of us. Ahmadinejad denies that the Holocaust ever took place. He dreams of being an agent in a “Final Solution” — the elimination of the Jewish people. He has called Israel a “stinking corpse” that is “on its way to annihilation.” Such talk cannot be dismissed as the ravings of a madman — not when Iran just this summer tested long-range Shahab-3 missiles capable of striking Tel Aviv, not when the Iranian nuclear program is nearing completion, and not when Iran sponsors terrorists that threaten and kill innocent people around the world. … Together, we can stop Iran’s nuclear program. … Senator McCain has made a solemn commitment that I strongly endorse: Never again will we risk another Holocaust. And this is not a wish, a request, or a plea to Israel’s enemies. This is a promise that the United States and Israel will honor, against any enemy who cares to test us. It is John McCain’s promise and it is my promise.

The LORD God of Israel says: “I will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you I will curse. … I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you. … The LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies who hate and persecute you.” [Gen. 12:3; Ex. 23:22; Deut. 30:7].

The Jerusalem Connection says: Ahmadinejad is a disgrace to the Persian people and to the heritage of their greatest leader, King Cyrus, who financed the Jews’ return to their homeland and is the only non-Jew called a messiah [Isaiah 45:1; Ezra 1:2-4]. More significantly, since Ahmadinejad has cursed the Jews and Israel, he has placed himself under the curse of the God of Israel. Hence, he awaits the judgement and wrath of the God of Israel. Since he has cursed Israel openly, the wrath of God on this man will be open for the world to see. There will be no question as to the Source of Ahmadinejad’s demise. Since the Iranian blasphemer claims to be a spokesman for Allah, the god of Islam, his destruction will attest to the greater power of the LORD God of Israel. As the Apostle Paul reminds us, “The kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.” [I Cor.4:20].

Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on Monday September 29 and ends at nightfall on Wednesday October 1.  Rosh Hashanah is the first of the High Holidays or Yamim Noraim (”Days of Awe”) which conclude with the holiday of Yom Kippur. Rosh Hashanah is the start of the civil year in the Hebrew calendar.

Rosh Hashanah is characterized by the blowing of the shofar intended to awaken the listener from his or her “slumber” and alert them to the coming judgment.  Another popular observance during this holiday is eating apples dipped in honey, a symbol of hope for a sweet new year.

Stop Ahmadinejad.  Contact Congress Today!

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad came to New York this week to use the UN platform for his anti-Semitic libel straight out of the pages of “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”  During his speech he blamed the current Wall Street crisis on “a small but deceitful number of people called Zionists.” He went on to threaten the demise of the Zionist regime and called for a Palestinian state in all of Israel.  This kind of hate speech has become old-hat for the Iranian leader but the Free World no longer has to take it.

Write your congressperson today and tell them not to leave Washington next week before they pass two important Iran bills.  Tell them before this session ends they must vote on the Iran Counter-Proliferation Act (S. 970/H.R. 1400) and the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act (S. 1430/H.R. 2347).

Understanding the numbers involved in the proposed bailout plan

September 25th, 2008 by shieldofabraham and
is confusing to say the least. We do know that AIG and Bear STearns were offered loans in the 80billion dollar range.  We still have FDIC concerns as hundreds of banks have gone under.  The proposed 700 billion figure reminds me of government playing Santa Clause.  Not to mentioned government insured Pension plans and the problems with Fannie and Fredie.
